Did you photoshop that big truck into the first pic?

I just cut it out since I couldn't get both in one shot. But used the same focus and took it with in seconds.

I wanted to show the size difference. The dump truck may appear slightly larger than what it would normally be. But it is real close

pcride, using these tools will help blend in the overlayed truck. It shouldn't take to long to blend that in if you wanted to give it a shot.

Mmm.....strip mining. Nothing like it to ruin a nice view...

Sad thing is that I am the furthest thing from a tree hugger, I just was born and raised in Coal Country and have seen this many times in my life and it always is destructive. So much, in fact, that it was outlawed in PA.

    Nice photos though.

That bottom one is just an amazing view. I would love to see it in person.

Kennicote Mine is the one of the 2 world largest open pit mine, they mine copper, gold and sliver. And other stuff..
During the 2002 winter olympics they mined the metal and had a local blacksmith forge the game medels

An anode will produce two cathodes, each weighing about 280 pounds. The copper cathodes are Kennecott Utah Copper's finished product. (99.99% Copper)

Out of the amount of material mined to make the copper cathodes, they produce about 1 oz of pure gold and 6 ozs of silver. (bi-product)

The pit is so huge, its really impressive to see in person, The entire west mountain range is a mountain of tailings. By the year 2011 it will be 900 feet deeper than its current depth.
