    xinf?

was just doing some browsing, typed "hardware acceleration for flash" into Google just to see what came up, found this through some links

    http://xinf.org/trac

seems like its got something to do with openGL, I'm just reading through the "what is" section, but does anyone have any information on this, or know what it is? maybe its something like Apollo/ Zinc?

will it provide accelerated graphics for flash? or maybe just a bit better, as of now it looks like it will never take off because of the install procedure, but i'd like to have a go and see the improvements.

From what I read it must be sort of an interface between the flash player and the browser that enables you to use things like javascript and the use of open-gl in your flash projects. Very interesting. Good find.

Looks like Xinf will take a Xinf script and then can compile it into Flash (AS3 only), Java, or Xinfinity, or all of them. It does not promise to combine them in any way. (See: http://xinf.org/trac/wiki/XinfQuickstart)

Oh and i thought their acronym was pretty funny:
    Xinf Is Not Flash
Searching around on google, I found a blog post about Xinf:
    http://0xdf.com/?p=61

Which had a link to screenshot, snooping around I found this:
    http://xinf.org/misc/

which has 2 examples, opening them I found that only Firefox will work with it, Opera and IE do not

Turns out they even say it on the Xinf page:
you have one language and API to target Firefox' JavaScript, Adobe's Flash Player, and our own 'Xinfinity' runtime
But, "xinf is pre-alpha" so I guess we can't expect much yet.
