    FlawlessDog chat, re-visited

    Hi all.
    Ah, the old chatroom re-visited.
For my final project for vicom161-actionscript, I have done a comparison of SwishMax, and Macromedia Flash8.

To start, I took the latest version of my old SwishMax chatroom that was pretty much done in actionscript 1.0, and re-create it in Macromedia Flash8 using mostly actionscript 2.0
Get the scripting all in one place, so button actions, and other functions and stuff isn't scattered all over the dang place.

Started with this old SwishMax version:
    http://www.flawlessdog.com/bgslider_chat_v6/

Once this part is done, convert it back to SwishMax, changing as little as possible in the process.

All I had to change to make it work in SwishMax was the method used to move the background pictures in those masks, and the drag for the scrollbar, which by the way, was created from scratch, and not a component dragged out onto the stage...the math needs tweeking...

I took the 4 php, and got everything all into one php.

So, for those of you that like to do these comparisons, here is both versions on line, and here are the 2 zip files I have.

The only thing I didn't add this time was the auto reload.
It wouldn't be hard to add...quick loop, reload every 3 sec or so.
That was where the old one was set.

    Anyway, enjoy folks.

    Just a note:
These files are a bit big on purpose, as part of the assignment was to do the preloader.
    Sorry 'bout that...

Nice work Larry It reads like quite a project.

When are you going to be the prof teaching the Max classes?

    Thanks Mike.
I think I could teach a class like that.
Between this project, and the Carmex Site
folks at school are taking a new look at SwishMax as a powerful, legitimate, cost effective tool that does indeed work and play well with Macromedia Flash.
