Automatic FLV conversion

Hello,
Does anyone know of a way to automatically convert video files (lets say mpg) to flv? I am starting a flash media server and I would like to find a way so that when I upload a video file (or place it on my server), an application will automatically convert it from (mpg) to flv.

Any help is much appreciated. I am learning this from scratch.

do you need an SDK, or just a server side command line converter?

Either one really. But an SDK would be better. I found something called "FFmpeg" and it seems to work well enough for me. Ever used it? Have good bad things to say or perhaps a better suggestion?

well again, ive already suggested it before... check out geovid dot com website
they have got a solution for this it is better than on2 and i think even ffmpeg.
there is an sdk and a console for video to flash converting at server side...
