How to keep track of play() commands?

Ok, so I have often lost my nerves because timelines of my movies are going on when they are supposed to be stopped. The reason has always been that I have left a play() command to some place where it shouldn't be. Is there any easy way to detect and identify all the places that are sending play command? Or how do you avoid this problem in big projects? I'm using Flash CS3.

use the "find and replace" command under the edit menu. It can search your whole movie, not just what's currently showing like the regular find.
