Latest FP9 beta release: multicore, fullscreen hardware scaling!

    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/

    * Support for H.264 video and HE-AAC audio codecs.
    * Multi-core support for vector rendering.
    * Full screen mode with hardware scaling.
    * Flash Player cache for common platform components, such as the Flex framework.
    * Support for Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) in the Windows plug-in.
I'm not usually one to be on the beta release bandwagon but this one looks like a treat! I've tested it in firefox and was thoroughly impressed. Just a few points I noticed in the short time I played around with it:

    - Multicore appears to be effective. Watching a timedemo of one of my games, CPU usage peaked at around 65-70%, making use of 15-20% of the second core can only mean good things
    - The artificial framerate throttling seems to be gone. Now, unless I'm mistaken, my game which is set to run at 40fps is now actually hitting 40fps. Sex.
    - The fullscreen hardware scaling sounds awesome, but I haven't tested it. Does anyone know if it's for video playback only or will it affect everything?

EDIT: I just installed the IE version of the plugin and didn't notice any difference in framerate. This is disappointing since the majority of casual gamers have it, we still have to cater for IE users.

    Damn I suck.

I read that thread yesterday but didn't catch the link to the download. If a mod drops by, you can merge this thread with that or something.
