    Controlling alpha properties of movieclip containing textfields

    How come I cannot adjust the alpha property of this movieclip?
    Code:
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("myMovieText", 1);
    myMovieText._alpha = 10;
    myMovieText.createTextField ("myText", myMovieText.getNextHighestDepth(), 10, 10, 400, 22);
    myMovieText.myText.text = "Hello World";

    you have to embed your font. Put a font in your library and give it linkage name "Arial" (or whichever font you choose) then do:

    PHP Code:
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("myMovieText"1);
    myMovieText._alpha 40;
    myMovieText.createTextField ("myText"myMovieText.getNextHighestDepth(), 101040022);

    var
    tf:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    tf.font "Arial";

    myMovieText.myText.embedFonts true;
    myMovieText.myText.text "Hello World";
    myMovieText.myText.setTextFormat(tf);
