    Re: Bug Reports

First, thanks for the hard work on 4.9.7.7

Just a comment about your request that bug reports not be listed on the forum board...

Is it possible to have a "subforum" for this. It is discouraging to take the time to document a problem if you do not know whether someone else has already done it. It also helps to see the types of problems others are having and whether you may have something to share as a workaround or alternate method.

Thanks for a job well done!!!

People seem to use the features in different ways, so bug-finding is very individual. There is very rarely any duplication of bug reports, and even when there is a duplicate report, the additional information always helps.

As long as people keep reporting their bugs to the contact email address, then one day there will be very few bugs left to report, and no reason for a special forum.

Keep sending in those reports, and 3DFA will keep growing and improving, and everybody will be happy.
    Cheers,

    bugzilla for anonymity?

What about using a 'bugzilla' to track the bugs? You can download it for free at bugzilla.org.

It would help detecting and removing bugs and anyone could see which bugs are already reported and how to solve them (e.g. doing a workaround). In addition users wouldn't have to write a personal email to the support and there are maybe some who don't want to write such a mail. A bugzilla is much more anonymous!

    What do you think?

    Bug-zilla

This sounds like a very good sugestion...

I am sypathetic to marketing concerns :-) No one likes to flaunt there ongoing development issues. On the other hand, from a user standpoint, who wants re-invent the wheel or spend hours trying to get something to work that has a hidden known problem?

If a user has to take a special step to access the database of issues than that should keep the marketing people relatively happy! A person considering a purchase is not going to be staring an overweighted discussion of problems.

P.S. Kusko... I admire your optimism about declining bugs! I believe you will eventually find that the inherent bugs of 3dfa will stabilize at some reasonable level (I think you are already at that point) however, the plugins that your program is based one will inject ongoing faults with each revision! It is a thankless never ending cycle!
