I say yes, there is an afterlife... but emptier than people would admit. Think Mu (void, nothingness)... but with an audience.

.. you can avoid by attaining a state called moksha or mukthi according to hinduism, to attain that state you need lots of yogic power, basically if you have such a amount of power and mind control, you can predict the death day or the jeeva samathi ...

The body is keeping your spirit (also your sprit). The spirit is what your brain produces. When your body dies, the brain dies, the spirit dies. If you consider your remains being in insects, worms and bacteria as life, yes there is life after death, but I guess that is not what you mean. What is left of you after you die is what others remember of you, if there are others.
