    Anyone here ride bikes?

I've never really rode before but went into deus ex machina (http://www.deus.com.au/) the other day and feasted my eyes on some sweet custom bikes. I was thinking of lashing out on a sr400 rocker but did not know if it was a bad idea to start with an older bike. Suggestions?

Those are some pretty sweet rides. They've got a real classic feel to them. Now are these old bikes done up nicely or are they new bikes made to look old. If it's the former it'll help to know a thing or two about fixing and maintaining them. I've been riding for a few years now, but don't own any bikes at the moment. My younger brother just saved up and bought his first bike. A god damn suzuki hayabusa, the worlds fastest commercial bike.

I'm looking forward to visiting in the summer so I can give it a try and die in a firey wreck.

Dues ex' bikes tastes almost like candy. Very old school! So you're interested in the SR400. If that old bike roars, then why hesitate?

I've an old bike myself, recently acquired 5 months ago. Here's my ride:
A 1994 made CBR 400. Still going strong. I think.

I think there new(ish) bikes made to look like classic. I think they still make them in japan and some of the models are around 2003. So they buy them pretty much brand new then customize them to look like an old cafe racer. I think they go for around $7000 - $8000 and end up around $10,000 (aus) once there done with them.

Haha... not the fact that it's black, but the fact that it is a bicycle

Nice, but I'll stick with my near vintage all Campy Colnago. Steel bikes will always be sweet.

I don't even touch the bikes we build,
I couldn't afford to fix one if dropped it.

No argument from me. Steel frames ride very nice. But I won't give up my Jamis any time soon.
