On the Norwegian keyboard, on the same key as 4, there is a strange little symbol that nobody use. I Googled around a bit, and apparently it is called Currency Sign. It seems to be around from when ASCII was standardized in Europe, and they decided it was important enough to add to the collection. Except it's never actually used for anything.

So, does anyone know why it was added or where you can use it?

here in teh states we have a $ which is also a currency sign, possibly they change them based one what differnt cultures use/used

since noways currancy is the krone smbolized by kr there is no need for a special character symbol thus the generic currency symbol.

its on your keyboard because norway doesnt have a currency sign, thus the generic sign you have.

Grab a keyboard from england and you will get the pound sign. One form america for the dollar sign, and ill assume japan has the yen sign.

then remap your keys to show the symbol of choice.

Silver, look at the keyboard image in the first post. The keyboard has the English (£), American ($) and European (€) currency sign. Now compare it to the other keyboards on that page. Why does the Italian's, Spanish and British(!) need the $ sign instead of the ¤ sign? It's not like they use it more than we do.
