Cleveland (Family Guy) to get his own show!?
This just seems wrong...
Green light expected for Family Guy spin-off
By Tim Surette - TV.com - April 30, 2008
Cleveland will go off on his own, says report, along with The Pitts, Sit Down, Shut Up.
You go, Cleveland!
At this point, Fox should just make Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane part owner of the network. The writer/producer has been nothing but money for Fox, with Family Guy and American Dad successfully complementing The Simpsons and King of the Hill on Fox's Sunday nights and redefining primetime animation.
Now Fox can add a third show to the mix, says The Hollywood Reporter. The rumored Family Guy spin-off is pretty much a done deal, says the trade. Focusing on Peter Griffin's buddy Cleveland, Cleveland is expected to receive a 13-episode order at Fox's upfronts next week.
If all goes according to plan, Cleveland will debut next spring.
Cleveland likely won't be the only new toon next season. The animated reworkings of a pair of live-action shows, The Pitts and Sit Down, Shut Up, are also looking good to go.
Both projects will be handled by Simpsons vets; Mike Scully and Julie Thacker will take on The Pitts, about an unlucky family, and Josh Weinstein and Bill Oakley were recently announced as showrunners for Mitch Hurwitz's Sit Down, Shut Up, based on an Australian show about disenchanted teachers.

I seriously dunno about this one.

Huh, I don't see how such a low-key character can carry a show. I can't really see where it'd go, will it exist in the same universe as family guy?
Will it be just him, staring at the wall for 20 minute? Hmm.

Heard about this a couple months ago. No idea what kind of story line this could possibly have.

getting their own show. and moving on up. to the east sideeeeeeeeeeeeee in a DELUX apartment in the skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
they could easily do something similar with clevland. have him buy a buisness and move into a big apartment building, then you could have a show where he interacts with all the people in the building.

If this is a Jefferson spoof... brilliant.

Cleveland as George J? Maybe Quagmire can play Willis...

No way could Clevland be George Jefferson unless they rewrote him to be nothing of his former self.
I could see him being a government employee such as City or County employee having to endure local politics

My guess is they would be portraying his younger years.

I've got a lot of faith in Seth to pull it off. He knows the formula but this could still be painfully bad.

So this is family guy with him as the center instead of Peter. I figured that is what it would be and don't see how it would work taking him out of the environment of family guy but just seems stupid to me...
I'll give it a chance though.

Does the creator know of any other families except those comprised of a mother, father, older brother, older sister, baby, and a talking pet (I didn't see one in the Cleveland Show preview).

Pretty much it's his parody of every damn sitcom in America ever, Gen.

the only problem is this is his third show thats going to be pretty much exactly the same. he really had a chance to do something new here and blew it.

American dad is awful. It is family guy in different bodies and roles switched a little.
I'm getting pretty bored with Family Guy too.

I don't think the theme tune can get any cheesier. If it's funny enough to make me laugh then that's fine but it will all be the same type of jokes as the format is exactly the same.
