Ok so me and the lady decided to sit down and watch S.Darko upon your suggestion that it wasn't crap. I'm not sure if we saw the same movie or whatever you're smoking you need to share. That movie was horrendous and shames the original. The acting was awful. I mean the girl who played Sam must have never acted before because her performance was super weak and her little friend was just as bad. The supporting roles like the cool cigarettes rolled in the sleeve guy were almost hard to watch. The plot was just a mess, period. Then comes the script and dialog. I was speechless on how bad it was. The scene where they are in the guys brothers room and she just stands up and takes that beer, asked where the bathroom was, and said she was freaked out just came out of nowhere and that was just the tip of the iceberg of random useless dialog that was thrown into almost every scene. The only things that sorta made up for watching that was the cinematography. They had some pretty slick shots once in a while but the beginning was shot and edited together WAY to indie wannabe for me. They were just trying way too hard.

Also having that crazy kid try to look like Donnie was dumb.

I literally fell asleep before it was over so I have to go rewatch the last 20-30 minutes. I really hope some miracle of film happens then and salvages this pile.

I saw Transformers. It is 110% eye candy and that is ALL you can expect from it. It took anything was was remotely a story and threw it out the window for dick and fart jokes. I enjoyed it to a point just for the CG like everyone else but damn was it hard to watch all the "characters". They took his mom and took the funny little things she did from the first and BLEW them way overboard and it got annoying. A lot more to complain about but I'll just leave it at what someone else said about it "It's like watching paint dry but getting hit over the head with a frying pan the whole time"

Also didn't help there was a group of young teens in front of me and the kid directly in front of me was LOVING the movie and was expressing it the whole time.

Avatar is going to go down as the biggest let down in movie history. I REALLY want a good movie to come out of it but I think Cameron might have gone insane with his ego and this is going to be his "masterpiece". I think there will be great movies throughout history but I don't think any single movie will change the way we look at cinema like they are claiming. Which is also all we have as NOTHING has really been released about it just a lot of fan hype and fanboy circle jerks over Cameron's picture with a T-800 unless I am unaware of some important info that has been leaked?

wannabe in regards to your claim that you dont think a single movie will change the way we look at cinema.

people said that during black white silent films, before technicolor films, before the first 3d animated films, this is supposed to be that next big tech, James cameron i dont think has ever let people down when it comes to his movies, i mean look back the original terminator and t2 are both great movies to watch to this day, he set the bar for special effects and im sure hes going to do the same thing here again.

i mean ****, he holds the movie with the highest gross of all time, and it was about a ****ing boat that sank, Everyone knew the ending yet continued to go. James cameron tells good stories, and he knows what he is doing with special effects. If he really has surpassed that uncanny valley this could really changes movies from here on out.

Well I hope you're right. He does have one of the more solid director past and I enjoy all of his movies(even saw titanic in theater...). But I still stand in that not a single movie changes the industry. I think it is a collection of people spread out over various franchises that shape how things will come. Sure he might be the first to present some super technology but I am sure he isn't the only one working with it right now he just has the rights to release his film first. If for some reason he does have some super secret and doesn't share it with any inside people in the industry then that in my mind is actually holding back the industry. It is all about sharing knowledge. He can be the first to show it but he should definitely be sharing his knowledge. Because I am sure whatever he has up his sleeve is based upon other people's hard work.

It will be interesting to see the future of 3D and not as a gimmick but as a way to immerse the viewer more. The movies will have to slow down a little as 3D doesn't work too well with super fast paced cuts. Michael Bays nightmare.

first off michael bay says hes done with action movies for now.

Second, the technology he is using is expensive, and to alot of people experimental.

think about all the latest tech that has come out recently that people have started to use for almost every movie.

the t1000 in terminator 2, think back when you first saw that. seriously holy **** was that awesome the first time you see it, back then to do that it cost alot of money to do the effects, now anyone can do it.

look back at the bullet time in the matrix, now a crap ton of movies use it.

before toy story how many movies had you seen that were 3d animation?

look at the craze the dark knight jumpstarted with directors using imax. Now every director making a blockbuster is talking about how he is filming a certain amount of scenes in imax format.

this stuff comes in waves, and film is an ever evolving thing. james cameron just so happens to find the biggest wave nobody else is ready to try yet. If avatar is the blockbuster that everyone is preparing it to be, expect to see a wave of movies in the next 4-5 years using the tech cameron is fine tuning now.

I agree. I still think that not a single movie changes the game. It is a collection.

And that Michael Bay is done with action movies was a rumor that I am pretty sure was debunked. What else could that man possibly do? Look at his imdb page- his future projects are mostly of action type movies.

Michael Bay has never been one to embrace or even read film critics, and with the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, those aggrieved legions are returning the favor. And while the film is altogether review-proof, that’s not going to stop some of its most determined foes from attempting to smother it in its crib. After the jump, have a look at some of the most amusingly vicious rebukes to the summer’s biggest blockbuster to date.

    9. “My son does not own any Transformer dolls. I’m sorry, make that Transformer action figures. But if he did, upon my return from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I would have taken these Hasbro toys outside, placed them under the wheels of the car and driven back and forth across them until they were ground into dust.” — Mary Pols, Time Magazine

    8. “Michael Bay has once again transformed garbage into something resembling a film, at least in the loosest sense: it can be run through a projector and used to sell millions of tickets.” — Jeffrey M. Anderson, Combustible Celluloid

    7. “At 149 minutes, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is six minutes longer than the 2007 noise machine from which this sequel sprang, but those six minutes are like dog minutes.” — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

    6. “Fallen indulges Bay’s excesses well past the point of reason to deliver the male teenage cinematic equivalent of snorting cocaine off a hooker’s ass.” — Garth Franklin, Dark Horizons

    5. “It finally occurred to me that pyrotechnics are Bay’s pornography: massive, fiery money-shots. The bigger the fireball, the more he gets his rocks off. I hope he had a sufficient supply of tissues in the editing room.” — Marshall Fine, Hollywood and Fine

    4. “This is the same man who directed The Rock in 1996. Now he has made Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Faust made a better deal.” Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

    3. “I don’t have much nice to say about Transformers 2, but I’m happy to see my Park Slope neighbor John Turturro get another big paycheck.” — David Edelstein, New York Magazine

    2. “I’m certain that someday it will be acknowledged that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is like the most totally awesome artifact ever of the end of the American empire. It’s so us, a preposterously perfect reflection of who we are: loud, obnoxious, sexist, racist, juvenile, unthinking, visceral, and violent… and in love with ourselves for it. […] What we have right here is the Easter Island statue of our legacy.” — MaryAnn Johanson, FlickFilosopher

    1. “Terry Schiavo would have been bored by this bloated, ponderous piece of ****.” — Devin Faraci, CHUD

so Avatar is just gonna be another 3D movie? what's a big deal about it?

i think movie technology is at a point where, visually, nothing else could possibly add to it. I mean visually it's almost perfect now and in few years it will be perfect. People will never be able to tell if it's CG or not. 3D is great and it will be realistically jump out of the screen, but 3D nevertheless is an old tech reinvented.

i really do not see how anything else could improve beyond this though.

JuJu its not just another 3d movie. From everything iv heard its so photorealistic you wont even realize your watching animation while you watch the movie. Currently when watching a 3d movie the characters are "soul less" because of the uncanny valley. Its when something looks almost real, but the eyes are just sort of dead. Avatar changes that.

Go read some of the leaked buzz from the 22 minutes that have been screened. This WILL be a game changer. the same way comic book movies are going to be compared to The Dark Knight, 3D movies are going to be compared to Avatar.

They are all real people it's the new 3d animation. They're called actors

just kidding. off to find that info you speak of.

“Cameron told audience each frame of finished film takes 30-50 hrs to render, then double that up for 3D.”

    Jesus.

I have a feeling I will need to go out of state and see this in 3d imax or I won't see it. The local theater is AWFUL. My tv at home is better.
