1) I'm not sure. I don't use many vector graphics, but try http://www.openclipart.org/
2) What's 'flat colour'?
3) In CS3, you can use Pen tool. I think it may be same in Flash. Alternatively, it might be called bezier (that's what one draws with it, beziers).
Sorry I couldn't answer them very well, but hopefully they can help you get started (for 1 and 3 at least).

1) I'm looking for .fla files, I can't seem to find any there :/
2) Like using the Rectangle tool in flash to draw one without outlines.
3) Pen looks like it might work, i'll have a play around with it

1. If you search for tutorials/demos, they usually have a source file that you can download at the end... just grab that. Or, if you've already created an image and want to reuse it, you can just copy/paste, or File > Import > Open External Library... (that just opens the Library of another file. You can't edit the items in it, but you can drag them to the stage/library of your current .fla)
2. With the line selected go to Modify > Shape > Convert Lines to Fills
3. Draw a straight line, deselect, place your cursor over it... the arrow will get a little moon shape line below it... click and drag to curve the line. (Ctrl-click will give you a corner point).

Im rather a Flash novice myself, but ill try to help you somehow.
For a BUNCH of flash resources, flash tutorials and stuff, try going to one of these places:
http://www.tutorialized.com
http://flash-foundation.com
http://swfspot.com
See if that's help, it's where I normally go for help.
That, or just Google it.
