    Osama, Obama Detroit News

The Detroit News is our local conservative newspaper.

    They made a huge typo
incorrectly read "Clinton, Osama meet to discuss unity" and appeared Friday on page 17A of about 45,000 newspapers distributed north and west of downtown Detroit.
    http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/16531800/detail.html

    Was it a typo?
I think not. the letter "s' is not near the letter 'b' on my keyboard. I think the editor who proof reads the content is just trying to stir the pot.

This is about the umpteenth time this year that this SAME mistake has happened. I think one of the CNN anchors actually said this on the air too. Was he stirring the pot? I think not.

It's one thing to miss speak.
It's quite another to miss print.

How many times have your read the word sullbhit?

Evidently, clicking that link was not enough. A picture tells a thousand words...here is a miss print (misprint?) on television. That trumps your newspaper.

    Where is Obama, indeed.

Obama, Osama... hmmm, are they brothers?

Not a misprint there at all. There's a few others, but that one example is from down the road from me (basically). There were about 7 other churches in this state, a few more in West Virginia that's done the same thing.

I guess if you want to make Osama less popular, "misspelling" his name can affect people subconscious and their associations.

Pastor Roger Byrd said that he just wanted to get people thinking. So last Thursday, he put a new message on the sign at the Jonesville Church of God.

It reads: "Obama, Osama, hmm, are they brothers?"

Byrd said that the message wasn't meant to be racial or political.

"It's simply to cause people to realize and to see what possibly could happen if we were to get someone in there that does not believe in Jesus Christ," he said.

When asked if he believes that Barack Obama is Muslim, Byrd said, "I don't know. See it asks a question: Are they brothers? In other words, is he Muslim ?"
Hahahaha. The message "wasn't meant to be racial or political"?!?!
That's all the message was by his own explanation!
Obviously Pastor Byrd is another diehard FOX viewer. lol
This guy deserves to lose his tax exempt status pronto.

Welcome to my view of the South...

and sadly, now the Midwest and other non-urban parts of the US since Obama won... Yep. I've lost faith.

The same guy responsible for the John McCain has a black baby story is working for the RNC

I suspect he'll pull every race baiting stunt in the book.

    He's already started

Oh great. I really hate it when my bad feelings of what people would do to keep Obama out of the office become true.

So... let's see. If they pull race into it, I guess that stuff that McCain has said against asians and his prior votes against MLK Day in Arizona - oh hell, is that who Public Enemy was talking about in "By the Time I Get to Arizona"!? - or his stance about the Confederate Flag. I won't even get into McCain's lack of economic understandings...

Seriously. How are people ignoring this stuff?

Simply because the mainstream media is going to ignore it.
The corporate media is Bush & McCain's base... or their b*tch, however you want to call it.
Of course they will gladly run you nonstop 24/7 coverage for a month straight if a former aquaintance of Obama's happens to say something out of line.
Get used to it... it's going to be a loooooong 5 months

Trust me I'm not ignoring it, however it's sort of like watching "Bushed" on "Countdown"

It's hard to track all 50 plus running scandals in the white house because they all get buried behind the lead stories.

Same goes with McCain. He's got so many issues the media can/will only cover so much.

Meanwhile other news stories are taking a backseat.

Those journalists who do this intentionally think people are stupid. It's an insult to voters and voters will definitely remember this kind of insult. Hillary's try to cheat voters regarding the summer gasoline tax is a nice example that it can backslash.

bah... too much 'reading between the lines' me thinks..

you 'talk/think' in your mind as you type.. and when reading back (for spell checking) words that arent real are usually what we pick up..just like spell checkers.. if its a REAL word, just mis-used it wont pick it up .. Im sure many editors re-act the same.??

so the sullbhit 'point' just doesnt seem valid to me.

people make suggestive comments that elude to one thing or another.. to play on people inner fears/questions...

...and you are certain of this?

Honestly, I think support for Obama has made people very sensitive to this sort of thing. I like the guy too, but I am not so sensitive to every single indiscretion that happens. The guy is running for President of the United States. He better be prepared for this type of scrutiny or else. Is it because of his color? I don't think there is any affirmative action plan for the White House, AFAIK.

I don't know...it just seems awfully nitpicky, considering that many respected news peeps in this country (not to mention Ted Kennedy - one of his staunchest supporters) have made the same mistake over and over again.

I actually did the same mistake, and made an example that prove against my argument. Still, I blame it on the fact that we were discussing the names and that that is the reason why I thought of it.
