Since poor ol' Northern Ireland didn't qualify that only leaves Holland for me to cheer on. Totally kicked the asses of those greesy italians

Holland vs France tomorrow. If France play anything like the way they did against Romania then it should be a walkover. Holland FTW

I'm glad we didn't qualify because it should be the kick up the backside we need to get a decent team together.

English fans have, however, improved over the past decade and there are quite a few countries with worse fans now. Racism in Eastern European football is a big problem and weren't a load of German fans arrested the other day?

Seriously - we used to be really bad but the focus needs to be on other countries now.

I was happy that the Ikea team won (esp. as my girlfriend is Swedish)

    - England does'nt have a decent team ? Owen, Lamps, Gerrard, Becks, Terry... you can go on and on about all the players...

Exactly - you can go on and on and on about the players but the less said about the TEAM, the better.

I reckon we would have stood a much better chance taking an English club team (not nessasaraly from the Premiership) who were made up mostly of English players and then adding a few extra players if needed.. That way we would have a team that play together every week rather than a bunch of over-paid brats who can't be bothered to learn to play together...

    - Totally agree these guys are paid way over the roof !

Dont you think then England should build a team minus all these so called stars who dont play as a team ?

I think Sven Ericcson took the FA for a royal ride ! Laughing all the way to the bank and having a humping good time in England !

I hope the proposed limit on foreign players is put into action. But there will probably be objections from someone complaining that it breaks European working rights etc... It's a difficult one - we have the best league in the world - no doubt about that but the English team suffers as a result - we buy in the best foreign talent and ignore investing in our own players at a 'grass-roots' level.

We've got a few world class players in England that deserve to be playing in major cups like this one but we dont have an international quality team - that takes time, work and investment and with the English league the way it is, I can't see that happening for a while yet.

Holland are on a roll. They decimated the French team. If they continue their good run - they might well life the cup !

    Czech vs. Turkey

What an exciting game it was ! Turkey grabbed the winner in the dying minutes. Anybody watch it ?

Ooh, I missed that cracker of a game too! Turks were deserving though.

Here's my take: (since before euro even kicked off)
    1) Croatia (solid. simply solid.)
    2) Spain (if puyol can still keep up with the pace)
    3) Germany (mean machine)

Personally, my heart's with Czech and Russia, but my brain says otherwise. And no, not Portugal, cos they don't have the strikers yet.

Can Portugal get past the dangerous Germans in the Q/F's ?

    My predictions:

    Germany to beat Portugal
    Turkey to beat Croatia
    Netherlands to spank the Russians
and Spain to beat Italy, who's without Gattuso and Pirlo

Beleaguered France coach Raymond Domenech sought solace in his personal life today as he publicly proposed to his girlfriend on French television just moments after his side had exited Euro 2008 at the first hurdle with a 2-0 defeat by Italy.

The 56-year-old swatted aside a question about his professional future with the French side a little more deftly and movingly than his side had on the pitch in their three Group C matches, to propose to his long-time girlfriend Estelle Denis, a television presenter.

"I have only one plan at the moment, it is to marry Estelle, and it is only this evening that I ask for her hand in marriage," said Domenech, who had been asked about whether he felt he had a future as France coach.
    - Nice way to propose when your team is down and out ?
