I too think the barcode generator is a neat tool.. not sure about the real world uses yet.. but still fun.

Where did you research the different barcode formats/conversions? I have zero experience with barcode terminology nor technology.. so any tips are appreciated.

Open source: no, I don't really feel inclined to release the code here.

Barcode specifications: A really helpful site I've found is http://barcodeisland.com. It has formats for quite a few more common 1-dimensional symbologies.

I know good site for barcode generator:Onbarcode. Last time I used onece. It's good. You can find many kinds of barcode generator on that site, such as Java QR Code barcoe generator SDK, .NET QR Code barcode generator, etc.

Actually, there are so many barcode generators online, as long as you search, you can find one, the problem is which one you would like to choose. I have been using <a href="http://www.rasteredge.com/online-barcode-generator/qr-code/">qr code generator</a>from a year ago, it is awesome to me.
