I dont remember who said something like that but, the problem is, we cant dig a hole in the ground and find hydrogen there, and unless we find some unknow sorce there will always be necessary the extra energy to separate hydrogen from water, and someone also said that every chemical reaction requires some energy, thats true, the problem is that that makes 2 reactions, one for the hydrolisis of the water and the otner fot the combustion of the hydrogen, wich makes me wonder if it would not be more economic to use that to go straight to the batery of a electric car
I gess nissan is making one for 2010 but im not sure

Fuel cells seem to be the best bet so far. I'm not a big fan of driving around with a tank of compressed hydrogen. So few people seem to understand the dangers inherent in highly compressed gas.

That indian one is different, is designed to be small and slow, nissan's one will use a new generation of bateries and goes from 0 to 100km/h in 13 secs, like gasoline cars, the guy said

People were afraid of running electricity in there homes for fear of fire.
Even though they would run natural gas for lights etc.

As people changed from gas powered lanterns to electic powered one household fires were reduced.

People were also afraid that cars that run on gas would explode.

Personally I like both alternatives Hydrogen and Electricity.


My point of the thread was simply to show that Hydrogen powered cars are nothing new.

There is a difference between irrational fear and fear based on a knowledge of physics and engineering.

Have you ever driven through a tunnel? Do you notice that quite often vehicles carrying compressed gas of any form are required to stop for a safety check? why do you think that is? You have worked in the restaurant business correct? so you have probably handled tanks of co2. How light were those? If filled with hydrogen how far do you think you would get?

Heck around these parts the only places that carry ethanol are independent gas stations attached to Miejer Thrifty Acres.

It's not production that is slowing the adaption of hyrdogen for cars it's distribution.

Honda already has a hydrogen car in production selling in the US. But, it doesn't actually burn the hydrogen. It's an electric car. The process of running the hydrogen through some plate that separates it and converts it to electricity used in the cars motor. I'm not sure how it all works all I know is it's pretty amazing. There's obviously something wrong with hydrogen for now or else everyone would be using/making it right?

Any type of fuel is dangerous to carry, because the fuel contains energy (duh). Oh, unless you have a water powered car, that is, which is perfectly safe...

Flashlackey, nie Indivision, was the one that had the Hummer photo. TGLC drove a smaller car... initially I thought it was a 300zx with Nismo Turbos... but it's something else.

If you're talking about the FCX, it's in VERY limited supply and only available as a lease at $600 per month.

As far as the other side of it...it's not an internal combustion engine (a la gasoline)...it is an electric engine which is powered by the hydrogen chemical reaction - and yes...'tis pretty cool.
