What is somebody tells you this ?

Wow. I just had to quote that. You are completely clueless Babs. Even though you are trying to insult almost everyone in every thread I find it comedy gold on how dense you are.

It was the best day in the offing for Indians in Olympics wherein India bagged two medals in its kitty. After Sushil Kumar`s bronze medal in wrestling, it was Indian boxer Vijender Kumar`s turn to bring cheers for Indians who strolled into semi-finals in 75 kg middle weight boxing category in the Beijing Olympics cruising past Carlos Góngora Mercado of Ecuador 9-4. Akhil dominated throughout the bout and never gave his opponent any chance to raise his head.

Having won the crucial quarter-final bout, Vijender has ensured the first ever Olympic boxing medal for the country because in boxing the boxers who make it to the semi-finals get a bronze medal each, even if they don`t qualify for the finals. Akhil has created history by becoming the first ever boxer in Indian history to achieve this feat.

Seldom would you find Indian sportspersons exuding the kind of confidence all the Bhiwani boxers exhibited before and throughout the Olympics. Vijender certainly has made country proud and has made up for what Akhil and Jitender couldn’t achieve. Well done Vijender! You have made us proud and jubilant. The hole of India waits for a golden punch from the brave heart boxer. Kudos!

You know, if there were as many styles of running as there are swimming(breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, backstroke), Bolt would have 10 golds by now.

    Bolt action rifles world record
"I am number one" screamed new 200 meter world record holder Usain Bolt into a TV camera lens after leaving the field for dead to complete an Olympic gold sprint double -- both in world record times.

Bolt is an incredible athlete. Yes many people says that his performance is just as great as Phelps, even though Phelps has more golds.

    Yeah, I don't like that.

On the other hand, when you pwn the rest of the competition by THAT much, you have the right to be a little arrogant in my book.

I don't blame him. Imagine being that young, on the very top, and the entire world knows it.

I'd be the next definition of arrogance if it were me.

I think arrogance is called for from athletes as long as they keep it within the context of their athletic accomplishments. Bolt certainly deserves bragging rights. He looks like a giant amongst kids in those races.

I disagree a little. What prevents Bolt from shaking hands with the other competitors in the race? You don't see Michael Phelps chanting "I'm #1" and parading around the swimming pool after he wins a gold (on the other hand, his lack of emotion may have been equally as annoying).

Not that I think it's a big deal, he wasn't over the top, but it's possible to be a dominate athlete and be proud, while still showing some respect and humility. In most sports the loud and arrogant athletes will get more attention (TO and Chad Johnson come to mind) but it seems the humble athletes get more respect in the long run.

Even in sports like mixed martial arts. It's impossible to hate a guy like Randy Couture because he is such a nice and humble guy, while it's easy to hate someone like Matt Hughes or Tito Ortiz because they are so full of themselves.
