60mpg Hummer
Finally, a chance for Hummer lovers to redeem themselves.
If you haven’ heard of the Motorhead Messiah, Jonathan Goodwin, let me introduce you: he hacks cars for a living, and he can get 60 mpg out of an H3 Hummer while doubling the horsepower and cutting emissions in half. Unbelievable? Yes, but this is no joke, and it’s doesn’t defy the laws of physics either. The hacked H3 is a hybrid with the gasoline fuel system removed. In its place, Goodwin installed a biodiesel-burning jet turbine to recharge the electrical system

I always thought it was somewhat illegal to change a prior gasoline car/title to diesel?

I think it's foolish and irresponsible. If he just made the same change on a smaller car, it would still save more gas.
What a jerk for choosing such a large, bulky car to use biodiesel on.

Hah! I had a feeling that picture was going to turn up somehow in a Hummer thread.

Reminds me that I should see if I can get ahold of the guy who owned that. Haven't heard from him in years.
Last I heard, he sold that thing and bought a Lambourghini.

It is in Va (I tried with a 280zx).
Although the photo with the article is an h1, which was available as a diesel.
The photo mistake and lack of a photo of the red h3 referenced in the article leads me to believe the article may be a good bit BS.
It also should be noticed that turbine engines are often about 10 to 20 times the cost of piston engine. So a turbine powered camry would be about 70,000 to 130,000 dollars.

The photo is not from the original article.
Here's the original article that blog was stealing from: http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/...d-messiah.html
