Can I do this with a mask?

Hello,

I have 2 mc's, one a point with a line, the other a box. These are dragged along the x-axis to particular data points...

I have the point and box under a mask so each clip is revealed as the user drags the clip.

My problem is I'd like the line inside the box to disappear when the box is dragged over the line. I've placed the box layer above the line but that didnt work.

I've attached a fla to help show what I mean.

Any ideas?
