Thread: Movie dimensions

  1. #1
How do I know if/how my SWF file will be a certain size when I actually go to browse and see it? For example:
    http://www.auntbeaph.com/promo.htm
has a flash movie that doesn't fill up its own window and I don't know how to fix it so that it fills the window or is at least a size of my preference. Any help is appreciated...

    Hello,

When you embed your flash movie inside the html file you can decide the the movie will have a fix size in pixels.Like 550x400 and then it will be shown differently on each resolution.Or you can define its width and height as 100% and that way it will fit on every browser and why resolution. There really isn't a fixed dimension for a movie just a cretin proportion you should be aware off.Your movie can be a square one or a thin line.... what ever you want it to be... isn't that fun?

Fixed the size... Now if I can just get it to load faster. On my 56k it takes way too long. I'm going to eat some toast while I ponder this. Any special compression techniques?

    file size/loading/playback

Using <Generate Movie Report> in Publish Settings,
might help you analyse the 'dynamics' of your movie stream.
Maybe you could compromise on a certain element of your swf and this would 'unblock the dam' as it were.

Worth checking that any imported imagefiles are being published as jpeg quality not lossless png.

what else.. try an 'If frame XX Loaded - goto..' type
Action to get some content happening on the screen
    ASAP
