Is it possible to mess with an image's color channels in flash?

I have a background image I want to use on a site and I have been messing with it in Photoshop to get some interesting transition ideas.

My image has a bright sky, one idea I want to use is to make the sky get brighter and brighter till the page is white...sort of. I can do this in photoshop but is it posible in flash?

    Like via actionscript?

If so could someone post the relevant AS codewords used to do this and I'll investigate further.

    Thanks.

For the basic you can always change brightness, alpha and tint for a movieClip under the properties bar.

I believe that codes in actionscript execute the same values as the properties bar does; but just enabling rather a different fashion of changing the movieClip.
