Flash movie that controls another movie

This may not be Koolmoves specific, but I have KM so if there is something I can use, great.

Like well, everyone, I want a Youtube like control that I can simply configure using a text (config) file to change the movie it controls.

The idea being that I want a pause/play button without having to edit my swf/fun files

    EG:

controls.swf can be configured 6 different ways to play/plause 6 different movies using an XML file or a text file or something.

    PS

If there is an answer to this quandry, let me know, but all the posts I've read talk about doing it "in Koolmoves" per movie.

    I don't want that.

I want one movie that can be reused to control other movies.

    Thanks

Well the mediaplayer component does just that. And you can skin the player with specific controls etc if you need to.

    Serious?

    That would be great.

Is that something you need the latest version for?

It would be worth upgrading I suppose, but I'd like to play with it first to make sure.

It's in Version 6 and the version 7 mediaplayer is much better and easier to use.

I am assuming you mean video files. If you mean controling a swf you can do that too using loadMovie to load it then script your controls.

    Ok, that's a good question.

I did mean .swf, but is there a format that works better?

I don't want to be editing things (like loading it into KM, them exporting it.

I just want a flash object that I can set a path to a movie to control (hopefully in a text or XML) file.

I don't want to be launching KM to edit values for every movie.

    Ok, I have KM 7.

Any tutorials you'd recommend for using Media Player Control?

Especially setting it up to be configured externally (via a text file)

    Sweet, I'll look into it.

I've been playing with the media player and chose the Transparent skin which is pretty easy overall to do (fairly quick).
