Blinded by the light (moth photos)

Couple shots I took last night. I love the textures in them more than I thought I would.

I know the blending is off in this one but I still like the effect.

3 and 4 are great! I really like the framing in the 3rd one and the perspective in the 4th.

Nice shots of the Luna Moth Actias luna. I got some photos of a related species from borneo, lovely insects.

Focus looks a little off on some of them, eg. last one focus looks on the leading wing edge rather than the insect's head, where it might've been nicer.

It was really hard to photograph this guy. I will be honest that I had to trust my camera a lot on these. It wouldn't set still for more that 2 sec. #'s 3 and 4 are the only ones that I had a chance to look threw the viewfinder and focus. The others were a matter of holding the camera where I thought it should be and shoot.
LOL A lot of the shots I took I was jumping up and shooting while I was in midair. The glow that it has was actually from motion blur.

Needless to say I had a good bit of fun with it.

I go for #1 + 2...love the pastel colours and the blur...and yes, the crop in #3 is great!

Great shots ! Most of them have truly beautiful colors and as you said, the motion blur is great fun :P
As for myself, I could never make such photos since I'd run away upon seeing those hideous beasts

Oh I think I may have shat myself when it flew by my head and I though it was a bat. Seriously the thing was the size of my hand and the wing grazed my ear, that'll wake ya up.
