Japanese-online is a really good (free!) Japanese tutorial site, with sound files so you can hear the lessons spoken.

and flynet, look at it this way - It'll help you understand some of the menus if you ever play a Japanese import video game. Ever tried to play an import RPG, and have no idea what's going on?

I know a bit of various Japanese phrases and words... Most related to video games (Save, Load, Continue...) or Puroresu (Japanese Pro-Wrestling)...

    ANNOUNCER: WWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Naniyo!
(AHHHHHHHHHHH! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!)
    "PIMP" KENTA KOBASHI: Abuzidesune...
    (Dangerous, wasn't it...)

I got into anime when most people weren't releasing it in America, and I have some non-subtitled anime...

We use to guess on the storylines and scarely enough, we were usually close to right...

Anime's a great visual medium...and if you watch it carefully, you will understand...

(Unless your talking Legend of the Galatic Hereos...)

As for learning Japanese, to become even close to fluent, it takes a LONG time...

my sister started to learn japanese, although she doesnt want to travel to japan whether she's watching animes.
i've tried speaking some phrases but after that my tung fell off, guess i can feel lucky that there are german translations for animes.
