Thread: DHTML Layer Over Flash???

  1. #1
Is it possible to put DHTML layered graphics over Flash swf files? I had a great menu in the works, then added a Flash movie. Now the Layer won't show?

Actually, it can be done. In fact, Macromedia's site does it. The question still remains "How?" I can't seem to find out, but there is a way.

    Flash and DHTML

NO, it can't be done on all browsers, only IE4 and above.

If you look closely at macromedia's site, you'll see that the dhtml pulldown only works if your in ie, not netscrape.
For some reason, netscrape can't handle html layered over flash.

maybe this problem is fixed in Mozilla/Netscape 6, but i doubt it. I will post anything new i find. But what would expect from a pioneer...[slowly retracts claws]

    anyway, that's my 2cents

I have it done here: http://www.ganger.net/home/test

Since this effect is limited only to IE for Windows, I use JavaScript to do it, so it would be compatible with other browsers.

note: It's still in the design and development phase, so it's subject to change or may not be there in the future.
If it screws up on your browser, please let me know.
