How Do You Make Your Game's Graphics?
Hey.
I want to build some good ol' 8-bit stuff. Which program do you recommend? Photoshop seems overkill to do something simple.
Also, aren't bitmaps images lighter/quicker to load than vectorial ones (made in flash)?
Thanks.

i think MS paint can do the job.
and vectors are usually lighter than bitmaps. But if u are just gonna do some old school game i think using bitmaps should be fine.
goodluck

I'm gonna try out Graphics Gale. Seems nice.

Character Animator
I don't know if you're on a Mac, but I saw one of my friends using this program, Pixen, at school-- looked like it was really easy to use, he was making really awesome quick animated sprites with it.

MS paint all the way. just zoom in x8 grab your line tool and go at it. you can actually make things look quite good with some patience.
For example, to make a metallic looking rod, you would draw a pale gray line, you would then draw a darker line the same length either side of the central line. You then draw 3 or 4 ever darker lines either side, and when you zoom out it looks like a metal rod.
Remember to always try and work in odd numbers. If you want to make circles that have an exact center you will need to work in odd numbers.
