I'm real happy to see Microsoft actually pushing IE8 on their users for once. Maybe people will become aware that a new version of "the internet" has been released. Anything to get people off of IE6.

I'm actually real happy that Windows 7 is coming off as a success. If it's well accepted and people finally upgrade from XP, IE6 numbers will plummet. Even if Vista users don't upgrade, they're on IE7 at least.

Maybe we'll all be able to drop IE6 support in the near future. I can smell it!

I'm also curious as to how they're hiding these clues from anyone BUT IE8 users. They can't be wrapping the clues in the famous <!--[if IE 8]> style tag because anyone can look at the source of the page to find it. But who knows? The only secure way would be some type of server-side detection, but even that can be spoofed. Ugh. I wonder if the person who finds it will be using Firefox!

@Taco In august of last year I made a prediction (see my fk css footer link) that by august of this year IE6 usage would be low enough to drop support. Almost there and remember I'm the one who predicted photoshop online.

I'll pay $10k if they bury IE8, and never bring out another browser again.
