    Weight Gain thread

This is going to be kind of the opposite of what wannabe is doing. Instead of losing weight im going to work on putting it on.

Over the past year or so since i got my wii fit which has tracked my weight iv gone up to average about 10lb heavier then i was, which is ****ing awesome, but im just now in the "normal" BMI range. My goal is to gain another 20lbs by march.

I did change my diet, i always have some sort of snack on me, be it a cliff bar or something else.
In order to gain one pound you need to eat 3250 calories more then you need to sustain your normal weight. I noticed that there were some days when i just was not hungry id eat less then i should, now when im sitting around at home and i notice i have not eaten a meal in a certain amount of time i make something. of course just eating is not going to help, so 5 days a week for 20-30 minutes i use my companys exercise equipment.

If it really were important to you, start in on the whey and protein, switch to split meals - every 3-4 hours, and actually do more than cardio.

If you are just looking to get fat, Pizza and Milkshakes should do it. If you are looking to build muscle mass, then start eating a good balance of carbs and protein...and hit the weights. Cardio will simply burn what you eat. And like Gerbs said, eat lots of meals all day long. Not clif bars or granola snacks -- real food.

To go backwards... yeah. Clif bars and granola snacks... seriously. Want to eat grains, get Irish Oats... eat it simple with real fruit in the morning. Americans tend to eat overly processed food anyway, that's a good way to get real grain in your system.

I'm going the other way, trying to lose. But for me, it's all cardio, trimming fat, concentrating on protein and carbs and making sure I get more fish and omega fats into my system.

    And it's working.

Sounds perfect, why do you want to gain more weight? Do you have a purpose other than self image?

There are health benefits to leaning towards the 'under' side rather than the 'over' side. (I guess someone will post and tell me I am stating the bleeding obvious again)

Insanity is just a point of view. After all, the world looks pretty normal through your own underpants.

Anyway, DP's right. Under of slightly under is better than slightly over.

id like to between middle and over.

as for the snacks that was in regards to eating constantly, not meal replacements.

for instance, before id have nothing for breakfast, id eat a normal sized lunch then most times a small bag of chips between 5 and 7 and then eat a real dinner around 9. with a soda here and there it was fine to maintain a below average bmi but i could not gain a pound to save my life. and often there were days where i would eat less because i just wasnt hungry

a little less before cliff bar in the morning in place of the no breakfast i had before, a normal sized lunch plus something extra, a small thing of ice cream($1 vanilla ice cream cup) around 3:30 something small when i got home at 6 and then a regular dinner around 8.

the goal starting monday is to wake up an hour earlier then normal and eat an actual breakfast, cliff bar at work around 9, normal sized lunch plus some the ice cream the snack when i get home the dinner around 7 and then something else around 8.

as for working out i do minimal cardio, just enough to get the target heart rate, everything else is barbells and the multi station.
