Problems importing .fla files to library

Hi, all. I have CS3(As seen in the prefix), and I am just starting to understand how to make buttons, but a tutorial I'm using says to import the button to your library so that you can add it into a movie file. I've tried doing that with .fla files, but then I get an error that says that an unknown error happened, and won't import the file. I read on a tutorial(For MX, but I figured that they would stay the same for CS3) the accepted files, and .fla wasn't on there, and that confused me, since I could only save the file as .fla. Is there any software that can change the file to a different one, or a way to import the file?

    Thanks!

File > Import > Open External Library > (Choose you .fla)

*This will open the complete library (as a separate library) of the chosen .fla, which you can copy & paste items to your current library and/or just drag them directly to the stage.

    Yes, it's a great feature.
