You should probably find a better source of information to frame your opinions on the united states.
Sure there were some racists in the march, but to paint all as racists makes you look quite foolish.. and possibly racists yourself.
So can you guys sort out a counter-protest to say what a great job he's doing?
What has he done well as president?
Come on, finally, you've elected a really great man who's going to bring a lot of good to your country, which around the world is loosing credit.
what is great about Obama. I think the things he has achieved in his life and obstacles he has overcome are to be admired.. but great? No. not really.

Shockingly, I am going to agree with TGLC, albeit with a HUGE grain of salt. The 'great man' comment is fine, as long as you are not using it to describe his presidency so far. I don't feel he's done anything wrong, just hasn't really had the time to leave his mark on the Presidency to call it great yet. The way he's overcome adversity and racial issues in this country to become it's leader is nothing short of incredible. The Oval Office is the second game in the double header though.
He's got the same US and international appeal that JFK had. He is young and vibrant and he is a very good speaker who physically appeals to most people. JFK's Presidency was a bit of a wash before he was assassinated. His legend blew up after that. Obama's legacy needs a lot more in the books (other than being the first black President) to cement his place in history.
That being said, those buffoons with the Africa and Lion posters are good for nothing more than a good chuckle on a Wednesday morning. I love this country, but there are some real tools here.

Just some interesting points of view about the whole socialism thing: http://roomfordebate.blogs.nytimes.c...alism-in-2009/
also I don't think Obama is some super great man but I do think its very important to recognize that "the fact is, on both the energy/climate legislation and health care legislation, only the Democrats are really playing. With a few notable exceptions, the Republican Party is standing, arms folded and saying 'no.' Many of them just want President Obama to fail. Such a waste. Mr. Obama is not a socialist; he’s a centrist. But if he’s forced to depend entirely on his own party to pass legislation, he will be whipsawed by its different factions." quotation thanks to Mr. Friedman.

Amateurs. Until we get some people on Uncle Ruckus level, they're amateurs.
Seriously though, it offends me in one sense... I hate it when people think that all Americans are like that.

First up, was suppose to be a bit of a jokey thread, poking fun a the whole idea. But to the point...
gerbick Unfortunately when I chat to friends Americans seem to get labeled just as much as the French smell of garlic and the Germans are strict and efficient. But then you're going to find a wonderfully smelling French women and a lazy German sooner or later.

Well these things struck me as being quite good:
Halted the terror trials at Guantanamo Bay and signs an executive order that will close Guantanamo detention facility in one year
Frankly, responsible for one of the best websites ever www.whitehouse.gov
Plan to withdraw combat troops from Iraq by August 2010, the rest by December 2011
Start a campaign for the removable of nuclear arms
And start the debate for providing healthcare for all

Oh, you must not be familiar with the Boondocks. Uncle Ruckus is a character on that show that despite being black, hates everything black and praises everything white. Perhaps one of the funniest plot devices since it's over-the-top.
In simpler terms, I was joking along.
-

Ah, no idea who on earth he is. Thought he might have been a previous Glenn Beck or somebody.
Good to know we're all joking. Apart from them possibly, comparing somebody to Hitler is a little harsh.

I'd rather not be compared to Bush more.

All presidents are hated due to many factors and among them is job performance, and it's not just America but all over the world. You may like your current president but others may dislike him/her. And vice versa. In US, if your president is conservative, liberals will try to nail him down, and so on... if the president is liberal, conservatives will be in the offensive. It's very unfortunate for Obama that he's black. Liberals will be pulling the race card everytime Obama is under attack. Imagine if Bush was black, people will be hating him because of his bad performance, but hardcore conservative will take it as a racism. When Bill Clinton was the president, liberals can't pull the race card because he was white when people were hating him.
This is just the beginning for Obama. More will come. Obama won't consider any attacks as racism, but others will, especially the liberals. I was just having a conversation with my cousin about what worst could happen if Obama is assassinated just like JFK, it will be a major racism issue. His name will even go down as national hero and will have his own holiday in the calendar. My cousin joked, "Good! let's have three more black president, that way we will have a week of holiday when they get shot.
"Long live fk'ers, keep fk'ing."

that's funny, i was thinking the other way around. What if Obama was a republican?
but i think currently extremists (being religious, or racist) see it as best time for 'recruiting', going along with moderates, say what they wanna hear and slowly enforcing their agenda.

On one level, just more of the same side-taking that's gone on since time began. Aside from a few peak moments it's just been a bunch of one side telling the other that they're doing it wrong meanwhile nothing purely destructive took place and the nay sayers either took power or ate crow. Time went on.
As I've mentioned before, this vitriol is a new level. We're going beyond patriotic duty here. I don't really give a sh*t if you oppose social health care. I receive social health care as a military dependent and yes there are a few problems, but the average american has inconvenienced themselves purposely to a far greater scale than a two week wait for a FREE appointment and FREE medication. Ever seen a 'last hand on a car' contest? Anyone who says the minor inconvenience is below them is an elitist hypocrite. If you think it will bankrupt us and create old people flavored soylent green isles at 7-11, you don't know how to do math.
All of that is moot compared to the b*tch ass poor losers to overly invested in their own ideals to accept the fact that divided we fall. Scary is not irresponsible spending, near sighted borrowing and impromptu programs. Scary is the fact that a few lifestyle addicted half-hearted patriots who make it there sole purpose to drive a wedge down the very center of their own country as if the word American meant membership can influence enough pack-mentality momentum that it may be too late before those of us sane enough take time from leading responsible life's to repair the damage.
I visited the Lincoln memorial on 9/12 where only a handful basement dwellers and terminally gullible held wrinkled and torn pieces of card board displaying illegible nonsensical chunks of broken English. I found my self face to face with a young white male no older than 15 whose left over science project poster board mentioned something unabashedly wrong about the future of gun control. In a genuinely honest reflex, my eyes traveled quickly to his face where I bellowed as loud as I could. The poor kid looked too confused to even understand the "Apartment For Rent" sign he likely wielded on weekends right after the nascar race and before the start of WWE Raw.
If you subscribe to this adolescent behavior as a means to progress this country you should be investigated as a possible enemy combatant. It almost definable as high-treason.

Wait. Speaking out about issues is unpatriotic and adolescent. But, laughing in a 15 year olds face without telling them why and insulting them later on an internet forum is...?

Really now.
It's very unfortunate for Obama that he's black
That in and of it self is a racist comment. He was neither elected for or in spite of the color of his skin. Americans elected him based on the content of his character. They deemed him the best person for the job from the field of candidates.
It's not about President Obama changing his skin. If this nation can't accept him as president then why did they elect him? Instead it is time for racists and hate baiters to accept what is and live in the current society.
My cousin joked, "Good! let's have three more black president, that way we will have a week of holiday when they get shot.
And how did you reply to that joke?
Did you think it was funny? Did you think your cousin was a racist? Do you understand that racism is more complex then simply hating all as group?
Do you think that instigating racism resolves anything? Do you think that shouting fire in a crowded theater is an acceptable form of free speech?

Meh. I feel as if most people are racist anyway. I'm willing to almost bet that everybody here has had a racist moment in their life against another group of individuals, even in the slightest, it's still there in most people.
To be overly sensitive to it, it's too tiring. Sometimes you just gotta let the idiots live... and hopefully die. Too bad they breed like roaches.

Same question applies to Bush and the rest of the presidents. Bush was not elected once but twice. How about Chavez and Ahmadinejad? Not once but twice? Bill clinton? You got it.

Exactly. That's why he won against a white man. Obama is very intelligent, brilliant man with such a good charisma. When possitive comes to Obama, everyone is happy. When negative comes, guess what? "Racist! Racist! That's racist man." Obama is smart enough to play the poker game. Wearing the president's shoes, Obama will face all kinds of attacks towards him from people who disagree with his policy. However, black community, fellow liberals, and John carter will call such attack as racism. What if Obama was a conservative and he plans to add 500 thousand more troops in Iraq? Of course many people and the liberals won't be happy. Any attacks towards him will be considered by black community, republicans, and maybe George Bush as racism.
