    Flash lite compatible cellphones

    Hello,

I am new to mobile site designing through Flash lite. While working for the client, he wanted to have a list of cell phones that has Flash lite pre-installed. I gave the link from Adobe site. Now he also needs a list of cell phones that does not have Flash lite pre-installed but you can install it and see the mobile site.

Can anyone help me with that?

    Thanks alot

At this time there aren't any versions of Flash that you can install on a phone.

    Thank you for your reply.

So does it mean that for flash content to be loaded to the cell phone, you either need flash lite pre-installed cell phones (those shown in adobe.com) or else we won't be able to see the content?

Secondly, Is there no mobile phone(s) that has/have capability to run flash content but no built-in Flash-lite installed?

    Thanks again

yes at the moment Flash must be pre-installed by either the browser vendor or manufacturer.

There may be firmware updates to certain phones that enable Flash in the browser. This will be the case with the forthcoming Palm webOS 1.3, which should add Flash 10.1.

Unlike the desktop pc environment, mobile has many obstacles to the idea of easy to install web browser plug-in process. Problems with mobile include many operating systems, some of which are proprietary, and many browsers, some of which do not have plug-in architectures. It is also not easy to install run time types of architectures over the air from a phone.

So there isnt a practical way for Adobe to try to produce a plug-in that just works on any old phone and any phone user can just download and install.

If you are making flash specific web sites then you will only be able to provide this content to a small number of platforms.

I would like to add something to what hp3 says:

You can definetly install FlashLite on Windows Mobiles. That is possible!

Rest all is what hp3 has mentioned is absolutely correct! There are hell lots of problems if you look forward to update the firmware or install Flash!
    As ever,

Windows Mobile 6.1 devices with IE 6 should have Flash Lite 3.0 pre-installed for the browser.

Adobe has discontinued the Distributable Flash Lite initiative in favor of a future version of Mobile AIR. However the distributable and AIR are not browser based players.
