Urgent please help
Hi,
I am developing a site which will allow users to upload video files.
Because of conversion issues i may constrict the user to upload .flv.
How do I get the uploaded video to be then sent to the video player on the site automatically?
I have included a very basic drawing of what I need which I hold will shed some light on the subject.

Thanks

You'll need to use server side software like ffmpeg:
http://ffmpeg.org/
and perhaps a database like MySQL to store/retreive the files.

i know about ffmpeg ive been spending the last couple of weeks getting to grips with it and linux.
Do you know how to call the video from the database to the player?

No not really. If your DB is MySQL, a good choice is PHP, they work well together. My experience with both is in a much more limited fashion. Google for more info about PHP. A good interface is SQLyog:

for DB info:
www.mysql.com
Your project is very ambious. You could buy software to do the same thing for about a thousand bucks... but that's the fun in that?
Best wishes,

You may try this Video Encoder Engine for Adobe Flash. It can help you convert video to FLV on your server side with ASP, ASP.net, PHP in console mode, creative video sharing solution for video uploading and sharing, especially a perfect solution for building your own video sharing site just like YouTube and many other popular video sharing web sites. If you are interested in it, you can free download it from here

Hope it helps, email me if you need further help.
