Okay my first question is, what is the best type of graphic images to use when importing graphics into flash? GIF or JPEG...or something else?

Next I'm wondering, when you want a graphic to have a transparent background, accept for the picture itself, are there any formats you can import into flash that can keep an alpha channel or that images transparency. I'm pretty sure you can do that with GIF images, but what other types...?

PNG is what you want for the transparency issue!

    It's great, my preferred format.
    GIF transparencies suck.

In general though, you want to use whichever format will compress your image files the most because, after all, the smaller the files the faster the download, the playback, etc.

    Hope this helps.

Gif's are best for graphics with strong colours/no gradients (ie a pic that is half red, half white)

    Jpegs are best for gradients

    Yip, Photoshop supports everything m*!
