iPad... get or forget?

I dont know all the details of this thing but it looks ok. I dont think you're gonna get the capabilities of an entire macbook or any laptop for that matter... but for 500$, if u look at it as a portable DVD player, eReader and mini laptop its alright.
Its not like ur gonna use this realistically to play music.

As a e-reader I guess I could get a little excited over the iPad, but for what it's suppose to be, no multitasking, no tethering, no camera for iChat. All the adapters that are needed. No HDMI out.
Although i was more disappointed there was no iPhone news today, was hoping to hear something.

Will be interesting to see just how true that statement is. The Newton, despite great handwriting recognition and some companies converting their entire warehouse inventory tracking systems over to Newtons, apple just gave up on them. Granted this was in much more troubling times for apple but it would certainly suck for any company who decides to use iPad's as part of their business operation if apple were to discontinue them.

I found the Newton actually a product before its time. The iPad, a product that I'm finding a hard time justifying.

I honestly hope it's just a foot in the door to an iMacPad. I'd spend between 1 and 2k on one depending on horsepower.

They'd have to cram a lot of hardware behind that screen. I'm sure it could be done though, for a price.

Well it'd have to be a bigger enclosure of course but take a look at your mbp, lots crammed in there.

If you have a iPhone or iTouch, why waste the $$$ on the iPad??
