simple as3 link coding to mute sound on new page

Here is my project. I have a flash nav bar with audio effects for buttons. I created a mute button. But when someone clicks and goes to another web page and the same flash nav bar loads the default audio is active. I'd rather when someone clicks after muting the new page reloads the flash nav in the mute state. They can then turn the audio back on if they wish.

I thought about creating a nav bar with 2 frames - 1 - audio on, frame 2 - mute. I thought it might be possible to code the mute buttons so when the new page loads, and same flash bar loads it loads on frame 2, maintaining the mute status. Not being a programmer beyond simple animations and buttons I 'm not sure that is the best way or only way to go.

Does anyone have thoughts on how to code this or simpleer method? Any thoughts?

Does this have to be in AS3?
