3D Image Rotation

Does anyone happen to know how to go about creating some sort of widget like the one seen on the Tiger Homepage?

I'm looking to try and create the same sort of draggable 3D image effect. How should one go about starting? Obviously many images would have to be taken...Any insight would be great!
