Water filling inside text effect

Hi,

I am trying to make a text effect where the colours fill up inside the logo lettering as if water was being poured in. Is there a way of doing this either by Actionscript or some form of advanced masking perhaps?

This is the type of effect I would like:

Water in vector shapes is very hard to do. I'd go with video editing.

That's what I thought, but rather than using After Effects I was wondering if there was a way of doing something similar in actionscript.
