What is Your All Time Fav Retro Computer Game

I personally think that these PS3's and Wii's take the fun out of gaming a little as all that people are bothered about is graphics. I used to own a Wii and it was great fun but sold it. I do prefer old school gaming and was wondering what other people loved or even what consoles people have that are old.

I recently bought a PS1 and I have been playing GTA1 and Resident Evil 1 but I do like more older games. I loved:

    Sonic 1
    Alex The Kidd
    Streets of Rage 1
    Golden Axe

Is that actually a serious answer? I must admit that game is a little too intense for me.

There are games that I had massive influence over my current perception of what makes a great game and there are games I would still play today. Final Fantasy II fits in both categories.

    I'd probably also pick up:
    Uniracers
    Actraiser 1
    SMB 3
    Sunsoft's Batman
    Blaster Master
    Metal Gear
    Final Fight

and some others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

    Defender

I've wasted years on that game.

Wow, haven't thought about that one in decades.

I think I probably wasted what could have been a college fund on Defender, Galaga, and Donkey Kong,... one quarter at a time.

Smash and Bash Bros for NES (I think that was the name) it had hammer throw and other Olympic type games but you could buy weapons to use against other players
    World Cup Soccer for NES
    Mario All Stars for SNES

In terms of most hours played, probably Civilization III or TV Sports: Football.

I'd have to go with Galaga if we're talking arcade.

    Console: Zelda & Techmo bowl.

PC: Civilization and Command & Conquer

If PC games, then Shadow of the Beast and the Wing Commander series.
