Evening all

Basically I have a ScrollPane (mc_swingPane) with a move clip (mc_swingAct3) as its source. Inside mc_swingAct3 there are a number of TextInput components, for argument's sake one is called txtJTF1a.

I'm trying to write what probably should be a simple statement that reads in what the user types in this text field and checks to see if it is empty or not. I have done this in the application with the following statement:

if (txtJTF1a.text.toString() === "")
{
trace("Empty");
}

But I am having problems when I try to do this with the TextInput inside the movie clip/scrollpane.

I've tried using the following statement:

if (swingPane.source.txtJTF1a.text.toString() === "")
{
trace("Empty");
}

This does not seem to be working, I keep getting this error:

TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

It's bound to be relatively simple, what can I do? I'm genuinely stuck on this

I'm running Flash CS4

Cheers
