    firefox 5

    didn't 4 JUST come out? When it asked me to install 5 this morning I thought it must have been some sort of virus.

    Released on March 22, 2011,[50][51] Firefox 4, was codenamed "Tumucumaque".
    Released on June 21, 2011,[65] Firefox 5 is currently the latest stable release.

    and firefox 3 was first released june 17 2008. with a 3.5 and 3.6 major release before 4. This just seems like they want to catch up to IE

    Maybe they're just getting a little more agile with their dev process, so they're getting 'major' releases out the door in a more orderly manner.
