Pretty much all the same. I don't suppose you have a spare DR-5 laying around. the wiring on mine. Can't use the power supply anymore, must use a battery.

Wow! I'm impressed that you remembered that I messed around with DR-5s. Sorry to say, no ... no longer have any of my gear. Check out ebay ... that's where I found a lot of my stuff. Good luck, and nice talking with you again.

Hey Frets, sorry to butt in, but after 44 years with my old Hoyer I bought a new guitar - a Takamine EG 50th Anniversary. After I had a pick up fitted to my old one a couple of years back, and now we're playing regularly, I wasn't happy with the amped sound so I went looking and playing. Would have liked something more expensive but this was double the budget I started at, and I love it. When I first picked it up and strummed it it just sang and rang out, unlike the muddy Yamahas I'd tried. Just wanted to let you know, old friend.

You know what they call a a Takamine?
Poor man's Martin. It's a great guitar at a good price.

I rarely touch my guitars these days. Sometimes I think I should sell them all. Everything comes off the ztar and it's all tapped. In many way's it's like learning a new instrument....frustrating, addicting and rewarding.

When I was looking into getting a new one I saw a young woman, a local singer/songwriter, playing excellent finger style and her guitar sounded great. I talked to her afterwards and she showed me her Martin Dreadnought - way out of my range and gorgeous, but I'm really happy with the Tak.
    What's a ztar?

A very good example of a ztar in use

Note the drums are the only thing the guy is not playing.

    Well, it's no Stylophone.

Number 3 son, who plays guitar, recently bought an iPad. I sent him your link and now he's saving up for an iTar for when they come out over here. Look forward to having a play on it.

I remember in the late 60s going to a small guitar expo put on by a local guitar shop and playing a Vox Phantom VI Guitar-organ, shown on this page. At the time I was learning and playing acoustic finger style so didn't really know what to do with it, but I guess it must have been one of the earliest 'synth' guitars.

Indeed it was, and in many ways much better then all the stuff that followed till now.
Vox and hagstrom both put out models with sensors on the fretboard under the string. It's a lot more accurate then the roland way.
