    @Ray Beez

    Thanks for the inspiring/motivating words

    If I WOULD quit Flash, would a better option to go to be Java?

    First of all, decide WHAT you want to work on and then go for the language(s) most suitable. A good programmer should be able to adapt to almost any language.

    JAVA = Native Android apps
    Objective C = Native iOS apps
    C++ = Still used in high end game engines like Unreal
    C# = Used in Unity and most modern Windows apps. Unity also supports other scripting languages
    HTML5 + Javascript = Rich web content

    I wanna do browser games (like I mentioned before... I think), like for PC/Mac. No phone stuff with AIR. Hence why I thought maybe Java would be better to use than Flash, as people wanna get rid of Flash (it seems), but Java might "last"/"be accepted" longer.

    Well, I've heard that Java is very similar to Flash, and Java can be used for games and other stuff. So, I'm wrong? Java would also work on mobile without AIR.

    java applets will not work on mobile, and on desktop it is in far worse position than flash. for example.

    "sorry" as in you apologize for being wrong or is it for showing me I was wrong and somehow that picture shows it's not Java? I didn't understand what the image was supposed to show.

    Anyway, if it wasn't Java, I thought it was as it said "Javascript" during loading and uses .js files: http://i.imgur.com/huSu2WJ.png

    Too lazy to read the stuff on that page, but OK, I take it Java is not JavaScript then. So everytime I said "Java", I meant JavaScript. So, this thingy I linked to that worked on my iPhone was in JavaScript? This the language I referred to replace Flash for me on the web, doing games and stuff with it.

    JavaScript > ActionScript!

    I will probably give it a try.

    So, uhm, any reasons why I rather should use ActionScript over JavaScript? (other than I know AS better than JS, even though both are similar) Am I right in thinking JavaScript has a better future in browser stuff?

    JS is not going anywhere, as in: it will work in web browsers for looong time.
    AS is not going anywhere too, as in: it is no longer being improved / worked on.

    At a much lower level, bindable data in JS is just like bindable data in AS3/Flex. If you can code one, you can learn the other - but I've never been a fan of Flash's timeline, went with Adobe Flash Builder (now Apache Flex) instead.

    But always remember JavaScript != Java

    And if anybody is coding applets in the browser, you're probably going to have a bad time. Java is a security hole waiting to happen much like Flash has been uniformly stated to be. I don't see anything wrong with some NodeJS, AngularJS, ReactJS, ES6, TypeScript or CoffeeScript. But they just don't have the same fun to them as I had in Flash/Flex.

    Carry on...

    What's up everyone? Just checking in after a little 3 year hiatus. There's no more Flash in my life, but after reading about NPAPI being phased out by Chrome I wanted to see how the Flash community was doing. It's amazing to me that this community is still going, and it's a testament to how groundbreaking Flash was in its hay day.
