Excel linked to Flash?
Hello All,
Is there an easy way to, at least, read data from an excel file by using ActionScript2.0 in flash. Did search on the web, found some are talking about using xml language/file. I got no clue about xml, I couldn't understand it.
any ideas?
Regards!

I dont recall if there was a some (old) class to be used with this or not..
but you could possibly use a scripting language to parse it first? (like PHP?) then pass on the the data for you to parse?

Hi,
This might help you convert the csv to xml.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4...v-files-to-xml
This might help you import the xml

if you want to skip the php conversion then maybe use an online converter

I think excel is very secretly related to flash, ive had hidden excel files near my important .fla's documents that show up quickly and hide, feels like something is either monitering me or hacking me

Hi,
Perhaps you have been hacked by the excel monster that secretly wants to be a flash monster.
Sounds odd, but doesn't really sound like anything malicious if anything at all other than imagination.
I will not lecture you in home security but if you are worried or concerned about something then check it out.
No need to reply, unless you do have some ugly malware causing something.

Hi,
I'm still not sure as to why you posted (#4) in the first place, I tried to give a reasonable answer to the original question and then you come along with something which I am not sure is a joke or not.
Do you even have Office installed, did you include excel in the install?
I don't expect an answer to those, it's rhetoric.
If you ARE having problems with some sort of ghost excel file (from the BIG Microsoft) then I suggest you try taking it up in a forum dedicated to excel.
Or try to answer the original question a little.
