Thread: Using Video in Flash 5

  1. #1
First of all is this possible?

A client of mine wants to show short bursts of video in a movie I'm doing for him! FYI, this movie isn't going on the web, but I've still got to try and bring it in at around 1 meg or so.

What format does Flash 5 recognize - if any - ????

    Any help gratfully appreciated...

    well...

ive never heard of anybody acutally importing a real video. but what most people do when they want to simulate a video is find the file they want and bring it into adobe premiere or an equvalent program and save every few frames as a picture. so you would have say (as an example)...40 pictures. then you go in flash and put them all in sequential order in a new movie clip. NO motion tween and NO skipped frames (one right after another). and when you play it, it looks just like a movie. you can take more pictures (which equals more frames in flash), and the movie will be much smoother. but MUCH larger file size. dont go overboard with the number of frames though because your wasting size since your not going to be able to tell the difference between the higher number of frames.
hope i didnt confuse you to much.

Please give us some more information. What format are you looking for. It is very easy to import a QuickTime movie and I can give you step by step instructions. Mpegs are a little harder and I can't give you the step by step.

    What exactly do you want?

If your project works only for windows platform, you may
    try http://www.flashants.com FMProjector, using
    FS COMMAND("fas.avclip.load","filename")
then you will see the video in flash.

The format, as yet, is undecided but it seems that Quick Time would probably be the best one to go for. So I could certainly use some advice on Quick Time if you get a moment...

    All the best,

I'll also check out flashants.com BigMouse.

Here is an example of Quicktime frame x frame.

Let me know if you want to subcontract the project as this is very time consuming.

    Flashants - Big Mouse

Have you had much success using Flashants? I want to design a projector interface in Flash to play a mpeg movie published as an exe. From what I can gather from flashants.com, this could be a solution. Could this sort of project be more applicable for Director instead? Thanks!

    ncarron,
The answer for your question is at

If you work for windows platform, I think FlashAnts FMProjector is a good solution for you to integrate video/pdf with flash!
