Hi...its me again..
sorry.....there're just too many problems encountered along the way....
Question....what would be a good specification for trace bitmaps for photos?? My photos(*.jpeg) are always so distorted after tracing bitmap tat u can't even see a single thing....its just a blur image of colors....what should i do??

When you trace a bitmap in flash it gets to 256 colors.
that is the reason for the low quallity.
most photographs have more then milions of colors!!!
so don't convert them to vectors.

ok...then wouldn't my file be very big??
is there any other way of reducing file size??
Thanks.

Don't Trace Bitmap
Hello
For reduce the size of the image you could convert the jpeg to low resolution with Fireworks or JPEG Optimizer. But if the image haven't more two/three colours, the best format for it is .gif
I don't make the "trace bitmap" because the effect is like "cutout" of PhotoShop, and the borders like irregulars.
See you

Hi,
I also think you should not trace it, if it's a photo or s.th. similar, this can sometimes even increase filesize ...
You might also want to check the dpi, should not be more than 72.
If you use a gif:
Export it from fireworks or ps with as few colours as possible.
If you use a jpg:
Don't compress it before importing it to flash (!), because flash automatically re-optimizes jpgs and you lose quality, Compress jpgs in flash only.
... or try to use png.

If the file sizes are way too big than you can play around with the load movie action in actionscript, this is cool cuz you onnly load requested parts of your movie, this is good fun but the movies are harder to make when you want them to load like this and it takes some time to learn to use this, check out the tutorials for more on this. Whatever you do it really depends on the final size of the movie.
