a page viewable with the flash 5 plugin IE 5+ Netscape4+

anything else is up to you
posting them up on your domains would be the best objective possibly as it ould gain publicity for the rest of your site/s & work

the voting can begin - one vote per Flashkit member - quoting your flashkit profile name (more publicity for your site/s & work).
Each flashkit user may modify his or her vote at any time up until close on February 28th.

...oO(((triestothinkhowtokeepthisinthelighthearted spirit one started - I few of ya know my disseriousness mission here in the hills)))))

    I second that
And you should as well have detailed explanation of rules and required things in the very first post

Just one question... Who were you referring to when you said "Flashkit, email me..."?? There is only 1 member under name Flashkit and that's the webmaster, Mark.
I don't see him in this thread yet, so it's a little confusing, I have no idea who you were referring to, perhaps Flashkit members in general

    ok ok
Ok all it boils to now is to get the thread going

I wanted only to show courtesy asking before starting the competition,
this 5kb was a mad idea that deserves to be treated lightheartedly - (merely a keen ..learnin flash as quickly as I can.. member wantin to throw a bit of fun at his compadres)

tomorrow - I'll chuck a template entry up on the thread entitled

5kb Domain - can you make it!!!!

(voting system - any ideas other than I could run a log of votes - there must be an easier way than Al having to stick his head inbetween tables!!LOL)

    Post rules

so in order to gain "member/voter" status you need to submit an entry?

it seems like that's a great way to have 50 entries and a 50 way tie...unless of course one of the rules is that you have to vote for one that's not your own. has this list been made yet?

    i'll start one.

Official Rules for Quark's 5KB Flash Challenge

-You have to create a single web page hosted by yourself (on some free web hoster or whatever http://www.brinkster.com is a good place to start)

-The page must contain only a single .swf that is less than 6KB. 3kb, 4kb, or 5.672 kb is okay but as soon as your .swf hits 6kb it is no longer 5kb and is disqualified.

-The page must also contain a link to download both the .swf and .fla files used in making the page. (we all want to learn from your wisdom or stupidity)

-The page itself is not included in the 5 kb. (but keep in mind that you won't be graded on your use of javascript)

-And for good measure add a flashkit logo to the page.

-All entry URLs must be sent to Quark via e-mail (quarkplugs@hotmail.com) before midnight 12AM EST Feb. 28, 2001. At which point your URL will be added to a list of entries and you will gain one vote

-Starting March 1, 2001 you may visit Quarks site where there will be a clearly marked link in the center of the page going to the URL list of valid entries. You then have 5 days to view each of the entries and send in your vote.

-Your vote will be lost if not cast (sent to quarkplugs@hotmail.com) before 12AM EST Mar. 5, 2001 or if you vote for yourself it will not count either.

-Quark will then tally the votes and post the results on his web site http://www.quarkplugs.com where the winner will be announced Mar. 6, 2001.

    did i miss anything?

again Dag - much thanx you are very efficient

    need clarification

Just need to make sure one point is straight---

NOTHING in the HTML page is included? Javascript does not count?

What if there are multiple HTML pages, yet still just one 5kb swf file?

    ....have to ask....

    clarify

Sorry i took so long - I have been away for a couple of days with family.

5kb swf is what will be judged - i think java should be judged on a java site? - so I will assume a pure page of clean html in which to embed the swf??

This is a flash challenge - for domain name - the information and summary of the "rules" is up under "flash.comp" up on ma site "http://quarkplugs.com"

thanx to those who are going to submit their entries by mailing - sillyme@themadidea.com
