    [Beta]The Frustrating Game

Hola amigos! I came up with the idea for this game last fall, and then I set it aside. A few months ago, through a blaze of inspiration, I did one or two more levels, and almost forgot about it...then due to a very quickly upcoming school district computer expo, I needed a project in one week. I managed to pull together a total of ten levels whilst juggling other projects.

My classmates said that they enjoyed it. They stumbled a little with its difficulty, although there was this one kid-who-thinks-he's-so-smart that solved it pretty fast....But I'd like to know what you think of the difficulty and other factors as well.

By the nature of the game, it's extremely important that there are no bugs. One that happened on another computer(mac!!!111one)...on level three, by using the keypad, the level wouldn't complete anymore, but I didn't see that as a problem on any other computers.

Preferably, if you could try to break it, and tell me what you think so far! You should find it frustrating, but not frustrating enough to throw it down, and not too easy to be completely enjoyable--if you know what I mean ;-). The puzzles involve some creativity to solve (lateral thinking), and it should be pretty funny. I got a lot of laughs. Which is my point, if you read the "about" text you'll see. It's frustration from a good perspective.

And most importantly (sorry, I write mucho), if you have any ideas, please!! Preferably, if you just have something that is frustrating that everybody can relate to (like gas prices), or if you have something clever or tricky..heheehehahWuahahahahaha. I've got a few more planned, but I'd like to finish the game at 20 levels. (I submitted the game at only 10 levels). And this would then be my first completed game. wOOt! Although I have another I might be posting shortly, very shortly, if I can not sleep more and get it done...

Definitely forgot to post the game...hah..

    I cheated by using right-click.

You should note that certain browsers will block pop-ups, hence you're level where you click on the add becomes evil.

I wasn't able to get past the first level (I didn't try very long) but I like the idea, it seems like a creative concept.

I really enjoyed it. Very cheeky game though.
Graphics: Pretty good, especially considering that the graphics play a fairly small role in these kind of games. The buttons and most fonts look good, but imo a bit of colour for the in-game background would make the game look more appealing.
btw, what’s up with the white edges of the smiley face? Have you cut it from somewhere else?
Gameplay:This is all that really matters in games like this. I think you've done a good job, though I'm probably not the best person to comment because I wouldn't normally play a trivial game like this. Surprisingly, I found this game very easy (clocked it in less than 5 minutes). Keep in mind, that this is coming from a guy that is currently both mentally and physically stuffed, and doesn't even play these kinds of games often at all (though admittedly, some were solved with dumb luck eg. Haphazard clicking across the page). Hopefully the next few levels will pump up the difficulty (maybe add a timer??).
Good luck with the next few levels, and I look forward to playing them soon

P.S. I also right clicked the .swf and pressed the play button (after[/U] playing the game), and noticed that you've added a few more levels (level 11, 20, etc), that appear to have no solution (I couldn't solve them), so maybe you should get rid of those until the whole game is finished (reduce file size).

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

    Viza:

I've been meaning to fix the smiley for awhile, just ran short of time. I really didn't put much effort into the graphics, because like you said, it's not entirely needed, but I will definitely do something with the white background to make it a little more visually appealing.

I did have a few more levels drawn out, but I couldn't get them to work in time. They will definitely be more difficult. And a timer is definitely a good idea that I haven't thought of, thanks.

wow, that is frustrating, i got to level 3 and gave up

    im not a lateral thinker

    i tried

    spacebar then 4, then backspace

    5-1

nice concept though, i dont like being frustrated so i stopped playing, but i'm sure there are many people who enjoy the challenge. Hopefully you get to see boobs or something at the end.

Ohh right.. haha.. well I beat the game now
I liked it, it was really creative.
However, you need to disable the right click menu so people can't skip levels.
Also the smily face cursor would look better as a vector graphic instead of a bitmap. Other than that, awesome game.

How do I do that? I could put the game all on one frame, but is there a way to just disable that menu instead?

No, you can just use _focusrect = false; to disable it.

    To disable the menu use:
    fscommand("showmenu", false);

I'm not sure if it's me being very dumb or there's another reason, but I can't get past level one.

When I press "hint" it says I should try pressing the _ key. On my keyboard I need to press SHIFT first to use that character, which triggers the "wrong key" message..

What's the opposite of wrong? Press that key.
