D: All Things Digital Conference, a second chance for palm?

So, tomorrow, apple and microsoft will appear together at the same stage? what are they planning?

Microsoft will unveil a new multitouch interface? looks cool

What I'm more interested in is Palm, apparently they are announcing their new device tomorrow. After announcing that the treo is the last of their products with the palm OS, I thought that was the dead of palm (and it sucks because i love my TX), but it seems they are planning on going the linux way. The device their are announcing tomorrow is 'something completely different'. I hope it's not a phone, but something between a pda and a UMPC, and if they start embracing linux, they might have a good chance, as all the opensource community will smile and work with them.

So, what do you guys think? something interesting happening tomorrow? or just boring announcements and deception from the companies we all love and hate?

Well Microsoft's entry is hardly revolutionary, I saw something like that on Dragon's Den about two years ago. Who wants a table with a monitor in it? You're going to get some serious back ache using that thing.

The technology was first developed for the US military (not by MS). Basicaly the technology was around for 8 years now with multiple diffferent variations by different companies, no idea when MS stepped in, but I would guess it wasn't too long ago.

I just saw that on TV they say we will be able to have one of those monitors within 2 years. Yeah right more like 5-8 for the real consumer.

video for ms multitouch screen: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/sticker-s...ble-264453.php
looks cool. If it's cheap, I'd get one for my living room, but no way I'd put my credit card on it.

Bah, it sucks. Foleo is the new gadget from Palm, it looks to me like a dumb useless laptop. No touchscreen??? that's going backwards. I was reading the hardware doesn't support stuff like 'youtube videos'...i guess that means no flash for it. Ram is like 118MB. The only good thing about it is it uses linux, but for $500 I guess I'd invest in a cheap laptop instead. What a disappointment.
